Irina Shraiber, Leading Researcher at the Laboratory of Experimental High Energy Physics of TSU, Lecturer at CERN Accelerator School, will give an introductory course "Elementary Introduction to Accelerator and Particle Physics" at TSU for undergraduate and graduate students of physical and engineering specialties, as well as for researchers and technical specialists who are interested in learning about the principles of operation and tasks of the Large Hadron Collider.

Special relativity without equations

This lecture introduces the concepts behind special relativity including length contraction, time dilation, the Galilean and Lorentz transformations, relativistic kinematics, Doppler shifts.

  • TRANSITION in thinking: from Galilean Relativity to the Special Theory of Relativity in 1905

  • POSTULATES which are the basis of the mathematics of the framework.

  • CONSEQUENCES of the postulates.

  • APPLICATIONS

Where: pl. Novosobornaya 1, Ch. building SFTI, room 211

When: December 7, 18:30-19:30.

Introduction to electrodynamics

The purpose of this lecture is to provide an introduction to Electromagnetic Theory.

  • From the nature of electrical force up to the Maxwell equations.

  • Concept of the field.

  • Basics of electrostatics, magnetostatics and electrodynamics.

Where: pl. Novosobornaya 1, Ch. building SFTI, room 211
