The TSU Pre-courses Department has launched an online school for applicants from the Hechuan Experimental Middle School. The high school students from China plan to enter the Faculty of Journalism, the Institute of Economics and Management, and the university partner of TSU on the project Big Tomsk University at SibSMU.
The preparation of applicants is carried out online in three profiles, the humanities, economics, and biomedicine. It includes intensive work, in the Russian language, in general knowledge, classes in the language of the specialty, and the scientific style of speech of the chosen profile.
- Our goal is to prepare high school students for admission to TSU, and also, in principle, to study at any other university. The school was planned in a full-time format in Tomsk, but because of the pandemic, we decided to implement distance learning, - said Daria Tarakanova, head of the Pre-courses Department.
In 2019, TSU signed a memorandum with the Hechuan Experimental High School, which implements Russian-language specialization for high school students planning to enter Russian universities. As part of the partnership, TSU is preparing them for admission.
The school is located in Chongqing, the largest city in the world to have a Russian language department, created as part of the Chinese government's “One Belt, One Road” program. This center was the first Russian language learning site in the area; in the first semester, teachers from Tomsk worked there, now all the interaction has been translated online.
- Despite the pandemic, applicants from China are continuing to prepare for admission to Russian universities, in particular to Tomsk State University,- Daria Tarakanova emphasizes. - Modern educational trends in China are very closely related to language training.
For reference. The Pre-courses Department has existed at TSU for 6 years. It prepares Russian and international high school students for admission to TSU, with classes organized in the Russian language, and in subjects of the humanities, engineering, and economic, medical, biological, and natural sciences.
