A delegation from Shandong Polytechnic University led by Vice President Chen Jing paid a return visit to Tomsk State University. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen international cooperation in the field of engineering science and education. The universities agreed to organize three joint educational programs, promote academic exchange and internship of TSU specialists in China.

The delegation of Shandong University also included the Deputy Director of the Department of Academic Affairs (Wang Pin), Dean of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (Yang Naitao), Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange (Niu Shutian), Deputy Secretary General of the China-Russia International Educational Cooperation Alliance, CEO of the international education and technology company CPE (Jing Linpan) and translator (Chen Zhe).

Shandong Polytechnic University is a large multidisciplinary university in Zibo (Shandong Province, China), known for its strong engineering and technical areas. Now Russian and Chinese universities are strengthening relations in the field of education. It should be reminded that Tomsk State University is among the top 15 universities in the Russian Federation selected for training in China.

According to Artyom Rykun, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, cooperation with Shandong Polytechnic University is an entry into to a new level of education.

– We plan to create three joint programs with Shandong Polytechnic University. This is the second most important university in Shandong province, one of the three most developed in China, and we look forward to strong scientific interaction with colleagues so that students can not only study, but also engage in science. Now we need to approve the list of joint programs. In the future we plan to initiate the “3+1” scheme, when students study in China for three years, and come to TSU for the fourth year.

The Vice President Chen Jing noted that Tomsk State University is a place of great history and powerful research. International cooperation between the two universities will create a strong alliance that will help in the development of science. Shandong Polytechnic University is interested in establishing a joint institute and joint training.

At the meeting with the representatives of Shandong Polytechnic University TSU presented its engineering educational programs and advanced scientific areas in the field of robotics and molecular engineering, including the programs of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Physics and Engineering – such as Industrial and Special Robotics, Institute “Smart Materials and Technologies”, and professional school “Molecular Engineering”.

Following the business meeting, the delegation of Shandong Polytechnic University invited TSU specialists to China for full-time project work. Moreover, Shandong Polytechnic University will recommend their best students for graduate and postgraduate studies at TSU.
