The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Kazem Jalali visited the Tomsk Region on October 16 and 17. At Tomsk State University, they visited the Research and Laboratory Complex of the Faculty of Chemistry and the Department of Rare Books and Manuscripts of the TSU Research Library and discussed the prospects of educational collaboration with the TSU Management.
The delegation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran also included First Rank Economic Counselor Kazem Mohammadi and Attaché for Technological and Innovation Cooperation Seyed Behnam Kazemi.
TSU Rector Eduard Galazhinskiy, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Artyom Rykun, Head of International Division Svetlana Rybushkina, and representatives of the university's faculties and scientific departments discussed the prospects of TSU and Iranian universities’ scientific and educational collaboration.
Kazem Jalali also gave an open lecture at TSU and answered students' questions.
The diplomats met with Vladimir Mazur, Governor of the Tomsk Region, on October 17. The delegation studied the industrial, economic, and educational potential of the Tomsk Region, including Tomsk universities, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Tomsk Region, and the Tomsk Special Economic Zone.
“We are working on the formation of industrial clusters, including microelectronics, low-tonnage and radiochemistry, and pharmaceutics. We have full opportunities to develop advanced production in these areas, which can become one of the prospective areas for collaboration,” Vladimir Mazur emphasized.
Commenting on the results of his visit to the Tomsk Region, Kazem Jalali highlighted the region's successful experience in the commercialization of scientific developments.
“I have not seen anything like this in other regions. And this particular area has great potential for our further collaboration," Kazem Jalali stated.
The parties agreed to create a permanent working group to develop further collaboration, Tomsk Region will be represented by Ludmila Ogorodova, Deputy Governor for Scientific and Educational Activity and Digital Transformation, and Vasiliy Potemkin, Deputy Governor for Investments and Property Relations.
