New students of the Center for Pre-University Training fr om China arrived to Tomsk State University. These students were enrolled through a partner agency, Changchun Science and Technology Company “Bo Cheng”, and arrived in Tomsk accompanied by their parents and the company's CEO, Wei Tongxian. One of the main reasons for the parents' visit was to see the living conditions in the city wh ere their children will be living and studying for the next five years.
During their visit, Wei Tongxian, the company representative, met with the staff of the International Division and Daria Tarakanova, the Director of the Center for Pre-University Training, to discuss further cooperation. Also in attendance was Jin Lingzhi, the General Director of Yijinyi Education and Research Company from Shandong Province. She came to Tomsk with her daughter, who was also enrolled in the Center for Pre-University Training this year through the intermediary of Bo Cheng. Jin Lingzhi expressed interest in future cooperation with TSU during the next admission campaign.
Partnership with Chinese educational agencies is a promising format for attracting international applicants. This is especially because such companies are often in touch with the enrolled applicants and their parents throughout the entire period of study and can help the university with the educational, social and cultural adaptation of students.
“Many students who come to Tomsk State University from China have just finished school and require special support in a foreign country. Despite the efforts of the Center for Pre-University Training and the International Division of TSU to provide systematic assistance in the adaptation of new students, maintaining contact between the university and parents through an agent has proven to be beneficial in improving the integration and study abroad processes.” noted Alexandra Prytkova, Head of the International Student Recruitment and Admission Office.
The university has already hosted visits from parents of international students in recent years, including those from Indonesia, Vietnam, and China. This openness and accessibility of the university staff helps to create a positive image of the institution and is especially important in today's competitive international environment. These visits for agencies and parents also serve to promote TSU abroad and increase awareness of its brand.
