Tomsk State University will celebrate its 144th anniversary

On May 27-29, Tomsk State University will celebrate its 144th anniversary. The main event of the celebration will be a major book festival The Book’s Dozen, other events include exhibitions, concerts, discussions, and an esports tournament. The winners of the Imperial University Club will be awarded on May 27.

Concerts

May 17, 18:30 – Dedicated to TSU. Concert of the TSU Violin Ensemble and TSU Violin Trio

May 18, 18:30 – Composer’s concert by Ekaterina Prikhodovskaya

May 20, 19:00 – Concert of music departments graduates. TSU Chamber Orchestra

May 21, 17:30 – Concert of chamber vocal music by the graduates of the Department of Instrumental Performance of the TSU Institute of Arts and Culture

May 24, 18:30 – Concert of chamber vocal music by the students of the Vocal Department

May 25, 18:30 – Solo concert by Pavel Shinkevich

May 27, 19:00 – Celebratory music concert by the students of the TSU Institute of Arts and Culture.

All concerts will be held in the Assembly Hall of the TSU main building.

International cultural event A Walk through Latin America

On May 25 at 19:00, the international students of TSU invite you to the international cultural event A Walk through Latin America to be held in the dance hall of the TSU Culture Center. It includes workshops on Latin American folklore and contemporary dances, food tasting, dances, songs, competitions, presentations of countries, bright colors and lively rhythms.

Back to the Future esports tournament
The tournament begins on May 27 at 14:00. Gamers can participate in a series of mini-tournaments for CS1.6., WarCraft, Linage2 and other games of 2000s in the cyberclass of the TSU Research Library. At 16:00 TSU Research Library will show Back to the Future movies.

Imperial University Cup Competition

The results of the Imperial University Cup will be announced on May 27. The award ceremony, which will be held from 18:30 to 22:00, will include the best performances from students, including the members of the TSU rock club, and dance sets from Tomsk DJs.

Championship on text recognition of the 19th century Siberian newspapers

The championship will be held on May 28 at 12:00 both online and offline. The participants will need to correct mistakes in automatically recognized texts published in siberian newspapers of the 19th century on the PROSiberia platform. The winners will be chosen among the participants that will correctly recognize the largest amount of text and type the largest amount of symbols in an hour.

12:00-12:50, 15:00-15:50 – Workshops on making postcards and bookmarks
Employees of the TSU Research Library will present a book miniature, demonstrate headpieces and endings that were created to highlight or beautify the beginning of a book chapter, section. Using stamps made on the basis of drawings from books of the 16th-17th centuries, the participants will create postcards and bookmarks according to all the design rules for the first printed books.

Is it true that home libraries have become rare and book racks are disappearing from our homes? Do young people collect their private libraries? What is the value of home libraries? We will talk about this with different people: an art critic and scientists, a student and a specialist professionally engaged in library fund acquisition. Fantastic Plastic Exhibition

 May 28 at 18:00 – Gallery in the Main Building invites you to visit the Fantastic Plastic Exhibition of the Moscow Design Museum.
