A delegation from Chongqing University of Arts and Science (CUAS, China) led by Vice Rector Wang, Dongqiang visited Tomsk State University. The parties signed the protocol of intent to develop joint master and PhD programs.

The CUAS delegation also included the head of master and postgraduate studies department Fan Wenqiao, the secretary of the party committee of the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering Zhao Feng and the Russian language teacher from the Institute of Foreign Languages (translator) Guo Minglei.

— For us, this visit was noteworthy for several reasons, – said Artyom Rykun, TSU Vice-Rector for International Affairs. – This is the first visit of representatives of this partner university. We have been working since 2017, almost ten years, but we have not yet had the leadership of CUAS visiting TSU. It is important that the new vice-rector organized his first trip to TSU. This is symbolic and marks the recognition of the importance of cooperation between our universities.

The parties agreed on a new form of interaction – joint training of masters and graduate students. Chongqing University of Arts and Science has only undergraduate and graduate degrees, so due to an agreement with TSU, they will have the opportunity to target the proposed levels of education. The agreed training fields will include physical, technical, chemical sciences and agrobiotechnology.

The guests also visited the Center for the Development of Industrial Robotics at the Faculty of Physics and Engineering, laboratories of the Higher Engineering School “Agrobiotech” and the Faculty of Chemistry. The delegation also met with Chinese students from CUAS who entered Tomsk State University.

CUAS Vice-Rector Wang Dongqiang noted that practice-based training is well developed at TSU. Chinese students come to TSU with a theoretical base and are already studying here to work in laboratories and research centers.

In total, 84 students from China study under joint programs at TSU. The largest number of students from Chongqing University of Art and Science study at the Faculty of Physics and Engineering. The Faculty of Innovative Technologies has recently launched a joint master’s program.

We shall remind that students from 68 countries of the world study at TSU – more than 3.5 thousand people. Of these, 1,192 are citizens of non-CIS countries. Kazakhstan with more than 1,400 students holds the first place in the list of leaders-countries, followed by China – 770 people.
