TSU and Edutoria to train master students in content and media project management

In September 2023, Tomsk State University and Edutoria Academy, an online learning platform created by PJSC Sberbank, will launch a joint master’s program on content and media project management. Graduates will be able to apply themselves in content creation (blog management, creation of media projects, i.e. podcasts), editing, and media management. All classes will be held online; however, upon completion all students will receive full-time TSU master’s diplomas.

Tomsk State University and SberEducation are working on the program as part of a partnership agreement on digital and IT education.

“Being one of TSU’s key EdTech partners, SberEducation has a similar outlook on the country’s current educational needs and how to handle things. Jointly, we plan to develop educational programs relevant to job market demands and related teaching and digital didactics requirements, as well as introduce cutting-edge EdTech products into the educational process, enhancing its high quality and effectiveness,” Mikhail Shepel, director of TSU Institute of Distance Education, comments.

The new program will be taught in the TSU Faculty of Philology in the 2023–2024 academic year and supported by the Institute of Distance Education and SberEducation.

“On one hand, the master’s students will learn management skills and how to launch a project and monitor it, and how to interact with the market and build a marketing campaign. At the same time, they will learn to work with a variety of media content,” Daria Maslova shares.

Having worked on media projects—blogs, podcasts, channels, media startups—students will learn to create projects from scratch and promote them. With the new knowledge and practical skills, students can expect to be employed as middle-level specialists.

“The theoretical aspects of the disciplines will be presented as prerecorded videos so the students can rewatch them any time they want. The project-oriented online seminars will rely on free scholarly discussion between students and the teaching staff,” explains Irina Aizikova, head of the program and the Department of General Literary Studies, Publishing, and Editing, TSU Faculty of Philology.

The program’s duration is two years. All practice-oriented classes (webinars, workshops) will be held synchronously on the Edutoria online learning platform. The internships’ formats will vary depending on the partner companies, which can offer students online work or require their presence in the office.

Holders of master’s and specialist degrees are welcome for admission. To apply, follow the program’s website. Admission trials will include a portfolio competition and an interview. Six students who show the best results will be enrolled on a state-funded basis, but fee-based studies are also an option.
