TSU and industrial partners discussed the prospects for the development of low- and medium-scale chemistry

A delegation of the state development corporation VEB.RF, the Skolkovo Foundation, investment companies SK Capital and Invasta Capital, as well as the representatives of regional companies – manufacturers of products and technologies in the field of low-tonnage chemistry visited Tomsk State University. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the field of research, technological development and their implementation in the field of small and medium-scale chemical production.

– For the Faculty of Chemistry and the Engineering Chemical Technology Center (ECTC) at TSU, this is an important dialogue, – said Alexey Knyazev, acting Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Director of the ECTC. – Together with leading financial and industrial partners, we can create a cost-effective model for introducing developments in the field of low-tonnage chemistry, which corresponds to the tasks of technological sovereignty and import substitution in the chemical industry of Russia.

The guests got acquainted with the potential of the Faculty of Chemistry, where scientists presented key areas of research and promising developments that can contribute to the development of the Russian chemical industry. The participants discussed the role of the university as a center for generating knowledge and technologies, as well as forms of interaction with industrial partners for scaling high-tech products. They also considered the issues of research commercialization, scaling up experimental production and creating a full cycle - fr om fundamental science to the introduction of products into the real sector of the economy.

Visit of industrial partners to the laboratory of the TSU Faculty of Chemistry

The participants visited one of the technological sites of the Engineering Chemical Technology Center at TSU, wh ere they were able to assess the level of development of pilot industries and discuss ways to integrate research achievements into the real sector of the economy. The guests got acquainted with the current installations created in the period 2020-2025.

Within the framework of the final meeting, specific cooperation mechanisms were discussed at the ECTC office at TSU, including investment models, infrastructure support and staffing of projects in the field of chemistry.
