For thirteen years, the World University Ranking by Round University Ranking (RUR) has been assessing higher educational institutions around the world, currently with 1300 participants from 85 countries. According to the newest ranking (2022), Tomsk State University has improved its positions and entered the top 100.

“Every university’s performance is measured by 20 unique indicators and 4 key areas of university missions: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability,” says Irina Zholobova, director of the TSU Information Analysis Center. “TSU has improved its performance, including but not limited to its financial sustainability, which enabled us to climb up the ranks from 103^rd place to 100^th, leaving the Golden League behind and entering the Diamond League.”

Tomsk State University has demonstrated stable growth in international and Russian rankings. Previously, TSU participated in the 5-100 program, meant to boost the competitiveness of Russian universities, and it is currently a leader in the Priority 2030 federal program.

Since 2014, when TSU became a participant of the 5-100 program, it has risen up the ranks from 443^rd place to among the 100 strongest universities worldwide. RUR experts noted the highly professional academic staff and systemic implementation of new technologies, including online learning.

RUR Rankings, sponsored in part by Clarivate Analytics, is an evaluation system aimed to provide sufficient information about university performance to address stakeholders’ personal needs: students, the academic community, university management, and policy makers.
