TSU holds a school on molecular engineering for students from Myanmar

There is an increasing number of applicants from South-East Asian countries interested in studying at Tomsk State University. The most popular programs are IT, Russian Language, and Biotechnology. To assist prospective applicants, the university offers career guidance sessions and has launched a school on bioengineering for 45 high school and university students from Myanmar.

The Tomsk International Science Honors Program (TISP) is implemented in natural sciences and innovation, offering four major tracks: “Biomaterials science”, “Molecular engineering”, “Physics”, and “Chemistry”. There are students from China, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and other countries studying this program. In September 2024, TSU will launch a similar program in collaboration with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT).

High school students who are interested in applying to TSU will learn more about study opportunities at Tomsk State University. The Tomsk International Science Honors Program provides an understanding of knowledge and professional skills necessary e to meet the challenges of the future. The summer school program consists of several optional modules, each containing a science case. Students from Sri Lanka focused on the Medical Biotechnology theme, while students from Indonesia and participants from Myanmar focused on the Molecular Engineering theme.

Students studying Medical Biotechnology will solve cases on metabolomics and microbiomics, while those studying Molecular Engineering will solve cases in Biomaterials Engineering. Classes are conducted online in English, with Mohammed Yusuf, associate professor at TSU's Institute of Smart Materials and Technologies, as one of the school's leading instructors. Students of the Tomsk International Science Program bachelor's degree program assist him as tutors.
