TSU is now ranked top-100 in Mechanical Engineering by GRAS

TSU became a leader among Russian universities and entered the top-100 in Mechanical Engineering in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2022 by ShanghaiRanking, published on July 19.

TSU ranked well as usual in four subject areas: Energy Science and Engineering (301-400) (the only Russian university to rank in this category), Metallurgy (151-200), Earth Sciences (401-500), and Physics (401-500).


TSU is one of the two universities that are included in the ranking in Mechanical Engineering. TSU took place 76-100 and Tomsk Polytechnic University follows with 151-200. In Earth Sciences, TSU ranks 401-500 along with Saint Petersburg State University.

Metallurgical Engineering includes 6 universities from Russia, and TSU ranks 151-200. In Physics, there are 5 universities from Moscow, Novosibirsk, and Saint-Petersburg as well as TSU.

Global Ranking of Academic Subjects by ShanghaiRanking was established in 2009. The 2022 ranking assessed 5,000 universities from 96 countries and regions and included more than 1,800 thousands. The universities are evaluated in 54 areas in natural sciences, life sciences, medical sciences, engineering, and social sciences. The company also publishes an annual Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), one of the most comprehensive university rankings.
