The Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Archaeological Research Artifact opened its 3D museum, The Ancient Art of Siberia. Unlike in other virtual galleries in Russia, any user of the TSU three-dimensional museum can download a favorite exhibit for printing  out later at the 3D printer.

The virtual exhibition includes exhibits from the TSU Museum of Archeology and Ethnography of Siberia, the Museum of Seversk, and the Yamalo-Nenets Regional Museum Complex of I.S.Shemanovsky (Salekhard). All models are created by employees of the laboratory, who conducted the laser three-dimensional scanning of historical artifacts.

Each exhibit has a detailed description and scientific bibliography. The 3D museum has, for example, models of a bronze dagger of the 14th-15th centuries found in the Omsk region, a suspension in the form of a rider on a horse of the 9th-11th centuries (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District), and a stone sculpture “Praying” of the 14th-15th centuries found on the right bank of the Tom’ River near the village of Samus.

Artifact scientists note that the 3D museum project operates on the principles of open access and has no commercial purposes. Its exhibits may be interesting both for professionals and amateurs.

- Before creating the museum, we placed three-dimensional models of exhibits on the open platform Sketchfab and our artifacts gained the interest of people from Italy, Germany, and other countries, - says Olga Zaitseva, head of the laboratory. - There are many people in the world who simply like these items and the ancient art. In general, it's a natural tendency: people are interested in the past globally, not only in the place where they live.

Now the exposition of the museum consists of 10 items, but in the future, it will expand. You can view artifacts of The Ancient Art of Siberia here.
