Rector of Tomsk State University Eduard Galazhinskiy was re-approved as the deputy chairperson of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. In this position, over the next five years, Professor Galazhinskiy will be responsible, among other things, for social sciences and humanities.

Eduard Galazhinskiy also became a member of the Presidium of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, which deals with a wide range of research tasks in various industries and solves issues of conferring academic degrees and attestation of scientists.

This year, by order of the Government of the Russian Federation, academician Vladislav Panchenko was again appointed the chairperson of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles. He will continue to lead the new Commission. Among his deputies, along with the TSU rector Eduard Galazhinskiy, are Alexander Gorbatsevich, chief researcher at the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Sergey Kutsev, acting Director of the Research Center for Medical Genetics; Efim Pivovar, scientific director of the Russian State University for the Humanities; Vladimir Filippov, President of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia; Igor Sheremet, chief researcher at the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The new issue of the “Rector’s View” contains analytical material prepared by Eduard Galazhinskiy, reflecting the main reference points of the situation associated with the mass use of generative agents – multifunctional AI algorithms – in various publications. The text is intended not only for experts, but also for a wide range of readers – all members of the Russian academic community.

The State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles is formed from among doctors of sciences, leading specialists in the field of science, technology, education and culture. The State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles is responsible for awarding academic degrees, creating dissertation councils, recognizing foreign documents on academic degrees and academic titles.
