TSU has the Confucius Institute established jointly with Shenyang Polytechnic University. In 2016, the Confucius Institute was recognized by the Chinese side as one of the best in the world. The global network of Confucius Institutes includes 500 centers created on the basis of universities, and more than a thousand classes. The Confucius Institute joined the top twenty world leaders and was the only Russia-based Confucius Institutes on this list.

Now the Confucius Institute is one of the main Russian platforms for cultural exchange, in-depth study of the Chinese language and traditions of China. A joint Center for the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin was opened in Shenyang with the participation of TSU. It opens up new opportunities for Chinese citizens to study the Russian language and culture. This center is the only one in Liaoning Province.
