TSU Rector has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Council for Science and Education

Eduard Galazhinsky, Rector of Tomsk State University, has once again been appointed as a member of the Presidential Council for Science and Education again. The appointment was announced in a presidential decree published on the official internet portal for legal information.

Decree No. 706, signed by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on August 19, 2024, outlines the structure of the Council and includes members of the government, regional authorities, and rectors of Russian universities. E. Galazhinsky, who is also the Rector of TSU, was selected to be a member of the Council. The Chairman of the Council is the Head of State, and the Deputy Chairman is Dmitry Medvedev, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council.

The main purpose of the Council is to determine the strategic goals and objectives for research, technology, and education, as well as the priorities for research and technological development in the Russian Federation.

For reference. Tomsk State University is the first imperial university established beyond the Urals and is recognized as one of the top universities in Russia. Additionally, TSU is one of six universities participating in a pilot project to improve higher education.
